Managing Existing Numbers
Select Phone Numbers from the left side menu to browse all available numbers on your tenant. The list includes numbers via Microsoft Calling Plans, Operator Connect and Direct Routing.
Selecting a number row will expand to reveal more information, including provider, country and capabilities. Number capabilities typically refers to whether the number is able to be used for a User and/or a First Party Application. A First Party Application refers to both Microsoft Auto Attendants and Microsoft Call Queues.
Number assignment is also possible from this page. Select the target User from the dropdown and click Assign Number.
Note: Assigning numbers to Resource Accounts on this page is an advanced operation. It is recommended to use the number management via the Wizard Call Flow, Teams Auto Attendants or Teams Call Queue pages. This will ensure a suitable resource account and license are assigned.
Adding Numbers
Depending on your account setup you may be able to add additional phone numbers directly via the portal. If you are using Direct Routing and your provider has already assigned a set of Numbers to you these can be added via the Add Direct Routing Numbers option. This works via a background number order task. It can take Microsoft several minutes to process these new numbers.
For other cases contact your upstream provider, who can add numbers on your behalf.
